Castleberry receives DAISY Award

Claudia Castleberry, RN, a 10th floor telemetry nurse at Providence Hospital was honored with a DAISY Award for nurses.
Among the comments made in her nomination: “I had the pleasure of working alongside one of the best hospice/end-of-life-care nurses ever! I observed her working tirelessly and compassionately to advocate for her patient by coordinating care across the board. It is hard to impress me in the nursing world, but if all of our new nurses had her skill, attention to detail and a servant’s heart to care for her patients, then nursing in the next generation will be just fine.”
Boutwell honored with DAISY Award

Anna Boutwell, RN, a nurse on the eighth floor at University Hospital, received a DAISY Award for nurses.
Among the comments made in her nomination: “Nurse Anna provided outstanding service, showing respect and compassion with patient-centered care and exceptional clinical skills. She even went above and beyond to contact each department with questions and concerns that I had upon discharge and made the stay of my family member comfortable and safe as well. She is an extraordinary nurse and very deserving of the DAISY Award.”
Hearndon recognized as employee of the month

Delena “Dee” Hearndon, LPN, was named employee of the month for June in the Department of Internal Medicine. Among the comments made in her nomination:
- Dee enjoys making a positive difference for her patients, and she tries to help them understand the role they have in making their own healthcare decisions.
- Dee was nominated three times for her compassion, unwavering care for patients and willingness to go above and beyond to help others.
- Dee is certainly an asset and a valuable team member.
Croomes named employee of the month

Larry Croomes, who works in maintenance at the Mitchell Cancer Institute, was named employee of the month for July. Among the comments made about Croomes:
- “Larry is friendly, respectful, punctual, dedicated, hardworking, professional, generous and trustworthy. He is a team player who works well with administrators, managers, staff, peers and trainees.”
- “Larry offers recommendations for improvements, and he efficiently solves problems. He calmly and courteously handles problems and emergencies, which can happen frequently at a busy cancer center. He arrives early and stays late for any issue.”
